MAGILTON TAKES OVER AT MELBOURNE

Melbourne Victory recently appointed Jim Magilton as their new coach, and the coach has requested for some patience from the fans and the media, as he attempts to bring about a change within the club.

Jim Magilton will be taking charge of Melbourne Victory in their first match against Adelaide, having reportedly turned down the chance to work alongside Euro Championship winner Vincent del Bosque in the Spain set-up. The manager has revealed that he has had only limited time in preparing for the match. So far, he has been able to view only three training sessions and a couple of DVDs in preparation for this match due to the constraints of time.

Hence, he wants some patience from the media and the fans if results do not improve initially. So far, Jim Magilton has 12 matches to his credit, which means that there is a very chance that he could be appointed on a permanent basis by the club. Even though time is certainly not his friend right now, Jim Magilton is hoping that he will get the same over the next few weeks. One of the strange aspects of football is the fact that it usually produces a response after the change of coach. Jim Magilton will be replacing previous coach Mehmet Durakovic and he will be hoping that this will be sufficient to provide an impetus for the team against Adelaide.

“I’ve been in here since Saturday. It feels like a month, but I want to give them confidence to go out and play. That’s not going to happen overnight. We all know that it’s going to take a little bit of time. It’s day by day, week by week. It’s constantly working with them and encouraging them to do what I want them to do,” Magilton said ahead of the match with Adelaide. Adelaide will be coming into the match on a good run of form.
