NO POSITIVES
The new Melbourne Victory manager Ange Postecoglou has said that he cannot take any positives from the 2-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Melbourne Heart. Melbourne Victory were playing in the local derby match against Melbourne Heart. However, the team was coming into the match on the back of a poor run of form, which has seen them get beaten by the Greek club Olympiacos in a friendly match. Ange Postecoglou said that his players will be learning from the 4-1 defeat suffered in the friendly match, but they showed no signs of such disappointment in the match against Melbourne Heart as well.
Melbourne Victory are clearly going for the championship title this season. They recruited the former Brisbane Roars manager, who had won the title in back-to-back championships, especially for this reason. However, they have made a bad start to the new season following the 2-1 defeat suffered against their local rivals. After the match, the manager was in an extremely bad mood and said that he could not take any positives from this match because his players played badly in all areas of the pitch. Melbourne Victory conceded goals on either side of the goal from Rojas to lose the match.
“I’m not happy about anything. I’m happy about absolutely zero tonight. Absolutely zero. Forty-two thousand people turned up and we let them down so I’ve got nothing to be happy about, absolutely zero. We can sit here and find a thousand reasons. I don’t care. I really don’t. All I know is that we missed a hell of an opportunity tonight. I’m not interested in trying to find reasons or excuses as to why we didn’t perform,” said the manager after the match. He will be hoping that Melbourne Victory recover quickly when he faces his former club Brisbane Roars in the next match.
