Melbourne Victory first Defeat in the League
Melbourne Victory sustained their first league defeat of the season after locking horns with their rivals Melbourne City FC on December 25 at the Aami Park in a match that concluded with a 1-0 victory for Melbourne City.
Erik Paartalu scored the only goal of the entire match during the last few moments of the game as the midfielder connected with a cross from Mate Dugandzic and headed it into the back of the net of their opponents.
Perth Glory are the table toppers of the Australian League and now they have an even bigger advantage at the top with a 6 points lead.
The coach of Melbourne Victory, Kevin Muscat was not satisfied with the work that the referee made in the match as he questioned the decision which denied a goal that his team had scored during the game.
Melbourne Victory scored a goal but it was later called out to be offside and it was not given to the team of Kevin Muscat.
“I don’t know who the offside has been given against. If it’s against BesartBerisha in the box he’s not offside.
“If its against Fahid who taps the ball in ultimately, when Bes makes contact with the ball, Fahid is outside the six-yard box, Bes is inside the six-yard box, so he can’t be offside either. And there was no flag that came up before that.Last week we copped a goal that was offside Marc Janko’s opening equalizer for Sydney. That went against us but it was allowed’’ Melbourne Victory’s coach, Kevin Muscat said as he voiced his frustration after the match was over.
Kevin Muscat and his team will have to bounce back from this defeat and get ready for their upcoming matches as they have to face off against the leaders of the league, Perth Glory in their opening league game of the season of 2015.
