VICTORY KEEPING ROJAS
The A-league club Melbourne Victory will be looking to keep the attacker Marco Rojas at the club during the transfer window, while also looking to add to the squad already present. The injury to the Brazilian Gui Finkler means that he is set to undergo a knee operation shortly. The transfer window will be opening on January 14, and the manager Ange Postecoglou has dismissed suggestions that Marco Rojas will be sold during this period. Instead, the club will be looking to add to the attacking line-up during the transfer window according to the manager.
Melbourne Victory started the new season with the hope of winning the title this season, but they are currently a few points off from achieving the tally this season because they trail the leaders Central Coast Mariners by seven points after having played 15 matches so far this campaign. Victory have had just three wins in the last five matches, which have resulted in them dropping from the leaders. Even though Finkler has been one of the important players for Melbourne Victory this season with seven assists so far this campaign, Postecoglou thinks that the replacement for the Brazilian is necessary given that he is out for the rest of the season.
“We have that opportunity – the January transfer window allows you to bring someone – so we’ll have a look at it. There’s a fair chunk of the season left, but nothing can happen before January 14, so our concern is to make sure we’re right for Wellington. It was pretty clear that he (Finkler) had done something pretty serious. He’s done his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and he’s had to crawl off the pitch without getting any medical help from our people,” said the Melbourne Victory manager Postecoglou after the 2-0 win over Wellington.
